What went wrong is/was our thoughtless jump from our successful migratory Hunter-Gatherer/pastoralist clan living ancestors to our ancestor's discovery of the non-perishable energy supplies provided by grain crops requiring a sedentary lifestyle, from which we are dying by the millions here in the US and the (over-)developed west. The H-G clans/bands unable to exceed 150 in sustainable numbers utilized available food/shelter/clothing resources and competed with sister clans/bands, which demanded population control for mobility and resource availability. We have exceeded our survival guidelines built into our previously successful lifeway. Period.

BTW, I don't believe anything until I see it, because I've served the MIC. ..as Air Defense Intel, no less. (We had "unidentifieds" on our, then the best in the world, RADAR all the time. I have *always* assumed "they" were military. I'm still not convinced, but this evidence is *incredible* by any standards.)
